Robert Nelson

Robert D. Nelson, 72, of Kasson, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys campus. Bob was born September 13, 1948 in Rochester to Howard and Fern (Frost) Nelson. He was a graduate of Kasson Mantorville High School and went on to become a certified painter. On April 22, 1967 at Byron Methodist Church, Bob married Loah King. He owned and operated Bob Nelson Painting. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending Kasson Mantorville High School sporting events. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and loved to watch stock car races along with NASCAR. Bob was a deacon and very active member at First Baptist Church of Kasson. He was a strong man of faith, and God's servant, always visiting and helping those in need. Bob was a dependable and a honest man. Along with his painting business, Bob also loved working on his hobby farm. Above all, Bob loved his family. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Loah Nelson; daughters, Rebel (Max) Gregor of Yakima, WA, Hollee (Matt) Grant of Byron; seven grandchildren, Drew, Derrik, Ryan, Nate, Alysha and Elli and two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Carson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Kasson, 304 4th St., Kasson, MN with Rev. John Todor officiating. Visitation will be held 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Douglas, MN. Due to Covid-19, masks will be required at the visitation and service. Social distancing will be observed.
