Joseph Paul Hovatter

Joseph Paul Hovatter, 77, of Kingwood, passed away Wednesday morning, October 21, 2020 at Oakland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Oakland, MD. He was born August 5, 1943 in Kingwood, WV, a son of the late Dallas and Minnie (Greaser) Hovatter. Survivors include his sister, Anna Catherine Lightner and husband Ed of Washington, PA; several nieces and nephews including his caregiver Angie Turner and her husband Matthew of Morgantown; and a cousin who also assisted with his care, Mary Mihallik and her husband Jeff of Westover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, George, Elmer, James Francis and Aggie Hovatter. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam conflict. After his service in the military, he worked several different jobs. He loved to walk and was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Kingwood. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, October 26th at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 322 E. Main St., Kingwood, with Father Biju T. Devassy as celebrant.
