Barry Joseph, son of Herbert and Marguerite (Giblin) Moeller, was born November 4, 1936 at home on the farm near Denison in Crawford County, Iowa. He completed elementary school in a rural school near his home and then graduated from Denison High School with the Class of 1955. After a year working on the family farm, Barry attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE. During this time Barry joined the Iowa National Guard where he served for many years.

On January 3, 1959, Barry was united in marriage with Luanne Hinners at Halbur. They were the parents of three children. They first lived in Carroll and Fort Dodge where Barry worked for Interstate Electric. He then worked as an electrician in Sac City for several years before returning to Carroll to start his own business, Central Iowa Lighting, in partnership with Monty Irlmeier. After five years in business, Barry decided to become a salesman for R&L Craft Roofing Company in Denison. That later led to a job with Interstate Roof Systems Consultants of Chicago. He retired from that firm after 24 years. The family also lived near Mt. Carmel for several years before building their new house in Carroll in 1980.

Barry was a member of Saint Lawrence Church. He was a past member of the Carroll Jaycees and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed dancing and music and learned to play the piano accordion. In his spare time he liked outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed going to the casinos, cooking, and had a great sense of humor for which he will be remembered.

In November of 2004, Barry was diagnosed with cancer. He actively sought treatment and continued working, enjoying his family and life as much as possible. Early in 2009 his health began to deteriorate. He was able to remain at home in Carroll with the care of his family and his nurse Lori Snyder. He died at home with his family on Friday afternoon, April 17, 2009 at the age of 72.

Preceding Barry in death are his parents Herbert and Marguerite Moeller; mother and father-in-law Victor and Viola Hinners and sister-in-law Barb Moeller.

He is survived by his wife Luanne Moeller of Carroll; three children: Steve Moeller and fianc Kate McManus of Minneapolis; Scott Moeller of Carroll and Renee Youngren and fiance Jim Betchel of Manning; two granddaughters Abbey and Grace Youngren of Manning; three brothers: Neil Moeller of Denison; Darrell Moeller and wife Vera of Denison; Roger Moeller of Denison; sister Beverly and husband Tom Slattery of Sacramento, CA; four sisters-in-law: Lois and husband Bob Malvasio of Yorkville, IL; Jolene and husband Jim Heinrichs of Carroll; Marilyn and husband Bobby Baker of Richmond, VA and Sandy Dryden of Richmond, VA; brother-in-law Daryl Hinners and wife Joyce of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
