Brenda Louise Smith, 61, of Maxwell, Iowa passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A visitation will be held at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care (107 North Main Street) in Baxter, Iowa, on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Santiago United Methodist Church in rural Mitchellville on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Brenda Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery in rural Mitchellville, Iowa. Brenda was born on September 5th, 1961, to Roger and Glorene (Adams) Bailey in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in rural Mitchellville and graduated from Bondurant-Farrar High School in 1980. Brenda married Jimmy Smith in 1992. They had three children together. Brenda held various careers in her life, including employment with Casey's, Central Tractor, Prairie Meadows, Wells Fargo, the federal government, Bankers Trust, and finally Hach in Ames, Iowa. te casinos. Brenda was passionate about horses, and in her free time enjoyed riding and attending rodeos. She also had a deep love of camping. Brenda leaves many loved ones to cherish her memory. These includes her children Cody (Katie Dillon) Smith, Colton (Hannah Hunter) Smith, and Makenze (Blake Mohon) Smith; siblings Jeff (Carole) Bailey, Annette (Corey) Ditsworth, and Barbara (Wayde) Wilson; nieces and nephews Jessica Bailey, Brad Reynolds, Tyler Walker, Hunter Ditsworth, Luke Ditsworth, Josh Kincaid, and Bailey Pritchard; and many close friends. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and her niece Jenny Bailey. Memorial contributions on behalf of Brenda may be made to her family.
